Southampton Boat Show – Case Study

The Southampton Boat Show Case Study presents the UK’s biggest outdoor international boat show with the largest built marina. Every year, the show opens its doors to over 100,000 visitors across the whole festival.

On this occasion, the organisers contacted us to provide clear, concise communications across the vast site. This included the marina, dockyard and an area measuring several thousand square metres with exhibition halls and hospitality tents. Nevertheless, we have years of experience in dealing with large scale events such as Glastonbury, Winter Wonderland, Edinburgh Festival and more available in our News. Consequently, we proved invaluable in overcoming the complexities of such a requirement.

Working in close co-operation with the organisers to meet their exact requirements, our engineers went on-site to complete an extensive review. Thus, they conducted a thorough radio survey of the site in all required areas.

Noticeably, the site being too large for standard ‘back to back’ radio communications, our engineer proposed the installation of a digital repeater aerial system. With that being said, the aerial system was tactically positioned on the roof of one of the centrally located buildings.

Overall, we delivered nearly 100 Two-Way Radio units. The equipment successfully worked through a multi channel, high quality digital radio system. Thus, giving the organisers and the external security team had clear, distinct voice transmission and receptions. Hence, their teams flawlessly carried site operations and ensured the health and safety of the thousands of visitors attending the show.
